A rubber wheelchair ramp from Rubber United makes a raised doorway or threshold accessible for wheelchairs, walkers, mobility scooters and trolleys. Each ramp is 1 metre long and has straight sides. Therefore, you can place several ramps next to each other without gaps and cover an entrance of any width. We supply these ramps to care homes, hospitals, schools, offices, shops and private homes across South Africa.

The ramps are made from recycled rubber with a non-slip surface. As a result, they give secure grip, even when the ground is wet. Because the rubber is heavy, the ramp stays in place without tools or fixings.

Why choose a rubber wheelchair ramp?

  • Straight sides: you line up several ramps for wide entrances, double doors or garage openings.
  • Non-slip surface: the textured rubber gives grip to wheels and feet.
  • Quiet and comfortable: rubber absorbs impact, so the transition feels smooth and makes little noise.
  • Indoor and outdoor: the ramps resist weather and keep their shape.
  • Ready to use: you simply place the ramp against the threshold.

Where to use these ramps

For example, customers use them at:

  • front doors and back doors
  • care homes, clinics and hospitals
  • schools, offices and shops
  • patio doors, balconies and garages
  • trolley routes in warehouses and kitchens

Straight sides or bevelled edges?

These ramps have straight sides, so they are ideal for wide entrances. On the other hand, if you want users to approach a single doorway from several angles, choose our rubber threshold ramps with bevelled edges. Those also carry up to 1,000 kg. For a very low threshold, we offer a PVC threshold ramp of 20 mm.

Frequently asked questions

How do I choose the right height?

Measure the height of the threshold and choose a ramp of the same height. If your size falls in between, take the next size up.

Can I combine several ramps?

Yes. Thanks to the straight sides, you place the ramps side by side without gaps. In this way, three 60 mm ramps cover an entrance of 3 metres.

Is this rubber wheelchair ramp suitable for mobility scooters?

Yes. The ramps carry 250 to 650 kg, depending on the height, so they suit most wheelchairs and mobility scooters. Check the weight of the scooter plus user against the table above.

Do you also supply portable or folding ramps?

No. These rubber ramps are made for thresholds and doorways up to 70 mm. For steps, kerbs or vehicles, you need a portable aluminium ramp from a mobility specialist.
